Peter Fouché, the British founder of Project Konstantin, a charity that provides support to soldiers on the front line in Ukraine, has died while working as a combat medic in the east of the country. The organisation confirmed the news in a statement on social media and described Fouché’s contribution to its work as “unwavering dedication, endless compassion, and relentless commitment to Ukraine and her people”. The charity, which provides vehicles, drones, uniforms and food to soldiers, was founded by Fouché in 2022.
Halyna Zhuk, commercial director and co-founder of Project Konstantin, said Fouché had lived and died “like a hero in the battlefield”. The organisation will continue Fouché’s work, she added. The charity’s statement said Fouché had been actively involved in saving more than 200 wounded Ukrainian soldiers, evacuating civilians from the most dangerous frontline areas, as well as bringing humanitarian aid to people in those cities.
A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed they were supporting the family of a British man who died in Ukraine. The statement released by Project Konstantin concluded that Fouché’s bravery and selflessness will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. The charity lost a revered leader but will carry on with his work dedicatedly.
