An intensive search is underway after news reports of a 14-year-old boy who has gone missing while swimming in the River Mersey. Calls to the emergency services were made just after 7 pm on Sunday informing them that the teen had been in the water with some friends, close to the radar tower located at Crosby Beach. Sadly, the boy disappeared, leaving the rest of his group in a state of shock as they realised they had lost their friend.
Merseyside Police revealed that the rest of the group had emerged from the river unscathed but were soon to realise that their friend was nowhere to be seen. The Coastguard, firefighters, rescue units, helicopters and paramedics all took part in the frantic overnight search. Unfortunately, the boy has yet to be found.
A portion of Crosby Beach surrounding the radar tower has been sealed off by authorities as emergency services continue their search for the missing teen. Meanwhile, Merseyside Police are urging the public to avoid the area whilst their investigation remains ongoing.
A spokesperson for the police confirmed that their officers, alongside a number of other emergency services, are continuing their search for the teenage boy. The spokesperson credited the emergency services for their hard work, bravery and commitment and added that they will do everything within their means to find the missing boy
