London rapper Little Simz surprised her fans with the identity of her guitarist at Glastonbury 2024. Jack Peñate, who made a name for himself as an indie singer-songwriter during the 2000s, accompanied the rapper in some of her set on the Pyramid Stage. Peñate, who released three albums, including debut album ‘Matinee’ which reached number seven in the UK, has collaborated with Little Simz and numerous other musicians in the past few years. Social media users expressed disbelief as one fan tweeted, “Jack Penate looking like Billy Ray Cyrus in Little Simz’s band was not on my bingo card”.
During Little Simz’s Glastonbury set, the rapper played a new song called ‘The Code’ for the first time with synthy sound and featured Nigerian artist Obongjayar for their song ‘Point and Kill’. The rapper also appeared during Coldplay’s headlining set to perform a song, which is rumoured to be titled ‘Supernova’ or ‘We Pray’ that will also include Burna Boy. Earlier this year, Little Simz shared that she considered her Glastonbury journey leading her to the Pyramid Stage as something special.
Little Simz’s Glastonbury 2024 setlist included multiple hits like ‘Silhouette,’ ‘Heart on Fire,’ and ‘Gorilla’. For more news, reviews, and interviews, check out NME’s live blog for the latest Glastonbury action
