Glastonbury 2024: Yard Act pay tribute to “People of Ukraine, Sudan and Palestine”

During this year’s Glastonbury festival, Yard Act dominated the Woodsies stage with an electrifying performance that was brimming with dance breaks and grooves. Frontman James Smith took a moment to address the audience, stating that it was a beautiful day for this spectacular event. The band then launched into ‘Fixer Upper’, ‘Dead Horse’ and ‘We Make Hits’. The ensemble was supported by backup singers whose synchronised choreography and enthusiasm added a powerful element to their set.

Katy J Pearson joined Yard Act for their collaborative work ‘When The Laughter Stops’. Smith introduced the band and took the opportunity to pay homage to Ukraine, Sudan and Palestine at the conclusion of their set. An enthusiastic crowd lauded Yard Act’s performance.

“In this field, take your drugs and hold your loved ones close. But even as we enjoy our freedom, we must also acknowledge and support those who are unable to enjoy the same freedom,” Smith commented while on stage. He emphasized the importance of standing with Ukraine, Sudan, and Palestine, as well as everyone else fighting for their liberation. Smith recognized that people around the world are fighting for their freedom, for their lives, and that not everyone has the freedom to enjoy what they were fortunate enough to partake in at the festival.

Yard Act performed an array of songs, including ‘Dark Days’, ‘Witness (Can I Get A?)’, ‘Down by the Stream’, ‘Dream Job’, ‘Pour Another’, ‘Fizzy Fish’, ‘A Vineyard for the North’, ‘Payday’, ‘The Overload’, ‘100% Endurance’, and ‘The Trench Coat Museum’.

Other notable acts that garnered attention at the festival were LCD Soundsystem, Dua Lipa, Fontaines D.C., and IDLES, all of whom dazzled the audience during the opening night.
