Glastonbury 2024: Kasabian cover bangers, play classics and preview ‘Happenings’ at packed-out Glastonbury 2024 secret set

Kasabian dazzled fans with a surprise show at Glastonbury 2024 with a setlist that included some of their biggest hits, a hint of their upcoming new era, and a tribute to dance music. It was their fifth time gracing the Worthy Farm stage, but the first since frontman Tom Meighan’s departure in 2020. The band started their set with “Club Foot” from their 2004 self-titled debut album. The tent was overflowing, and fans were turned away as early as 5 pm due to overcrowding.

The majority of Kasabian’s setlist at Glastonbury 2024 was a tribute to dance music, as much of it is inspired by the genre. They played “Vlad The Impaler,” their track, sampling “Breathe” by The Prodigy and covered “Groove Is In The Heart,” the 1990 disco-funk hit, by American dance group Deee-Lite. They also added a sample of “Intergalactic” by Beastie Boys and “Praise You” by Fatboy Slim to move into “L.S.F.”

Sergio Pizzorno expressed his excitement on the Woodsies stage by calling it one of Kasabian’s greatest days in the band’s 20-year history. Kasabian also previewed their eighth album, “Happenings,” which is set to release on July 5. Prior to the show, Pizzorno spoke to NME, expressing his excitement about the album’s concept and the band’s early punk zine mixed aesthetic with cheekiness. He’s promised a lot of surprises for the upcoming shows, though the album itself is meant to be a celebration.

Kasabian fans had long suspected that the group would take the “TBA” slot at Glastonbury 2024, as the band posted an Instagram video earlier in the day of them heading to Worthy Farm. The group’s performance comes a decade after they headlined the Pyramid Stage. The crowd responded with enthusiasm to Kasabian’s set, and the show provided an epic conclusion to the day’s performances as fans celebrated until late into the night
