During their headline performance at Glastonbury, IDLES surprised festival-goers by bringing out special guest Danny Brown. The Bristol band, currently promoting their fifth studio album ‘Tangk,’ were performing on the Other stage when they invited Brown to join them for their track ‘Pop Pop Pop.’ Ahead of the performance, frontman Joe Talbot spoke to NME about the band’s journey to the headlining slot: “It’s like incremental stuff like, we’ve been doing this for 15 years and each step is just magic. We will headline the Pyramid stage at the appropriate time when we can fill the field with people that like and know our songs.”
Speaking about the performance, Talbot said, “This is a dream come fucking true, thank you,” after introducing Brown. The rapper then adlibbed a rap verse to the end of the track. NME reported on the surprise appearance, with a Twitter user commenting, “A Danny Brown rap added to POP POP POP. Wow!” Drummer, Jon Beavis, later posted a photo on Instagram of the band meeting Brown backstage, simply captioning it, “Danny Brown, you mad c**t.”
Elsewhere at Glastonbury, LCD Soundsystem delivered a euphoric set, which was watched on the side-stage by Dave Grohl and Noel Gallagher. Fans of Kings Of Leon were also left wondering if they will play an unannounced secret set, as the band teased fans by sharing a video of their performance at Worthy Park in 2008. Meanwhile, rising artist Kenya Grace covered Britney Spears and Daniel Bedingfield during her debut at the legendary music festival.
