On June 28th, Headie One made a return to the Glastonbury Festival, performing in support of his second album, ‘The Last One’. This appearance marks his second at Worthy Farm, following his 2019 performance, where he had his own set on the Wow stage. The North London native also joined Dave on stage during his 2019 performance to perform their gold-certified collaboration, ’18Hunna’.
Headie One, whose real name is Irving Ampofo Adjei, started the set with UK drill track ’18hunna’, joined by his DJ and hypeman on stage. A live band also supplemented his melodic drill sound. He went on to perform some of his well-known UK rap classics, such as ‘Know Better’, as well as tracks from his latest album such as ‘Both’. During the latter, a huge mosh pit emerged in the crowd, prompting Headie to address if the crowd “could turn up a little bit?”
The crowd then vibrantly engaged with Headie’s two biggest afroswing songs – ‘Princess Cuts’ and ‘Don’t Rush’. After playing ‘I Could Rap’ and ‘Memories’ from ‘The Last One’, he played the Drake-assisted ‘Only You Freestyle’. Headie then closed the set with his recent track with Stormzy, ‘Cry No More’. Throughout the set, Headie and his hypeman promoted ‘The Last One’, and he expressed how proud he was of the album, calling it “a masterpiece”.
