Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes says ‘Medicine’ is “shit”

At a recent Bring Me The Horizon show in Germany, frontman Oli Sykes criticized the band’s song ‘Medicine’, calling it “shit”. The third single from their 2019 album ‘amo’ was a staple in their tour that year, but has not been performed since after only being played 17 times between 2020 and 2022. Sykes offered alternatives to the crowd at the festival, including ‘Pray For Plagues, ‘Chelsea Smile’, and ‘Don’t Look Down’.

The moment was captured on video by a festivalgoer and shared on Twitter, quickly gaining attention. At the same show, the band brought out Sykes’ father Ian to duet ‘Antivist’, with Sykes introducing his dad and calling him the “coolest dad in the world”. Ian is the latest guest vocalist on the track, following members of Bad Omens and Sleep Token who provided support on the song during Bring Me The Horizon’s UK and Australia tours.

The band recently released their latest album, ‘Post Human: Nex Gen’, which is the second album in their ‘Post Human’ series. The first album, ‘Survival Horror’, was released in 2020 and ‘Nex Gen’ was a surprise release last month after multiple delays. Bring Me The Horizon initially planned to release four ‘Post Human’ EPs in a year, but changed their plans upon lockdown lifting. Despite the challenges, the band continues to make waves in the music industry, collaborating with artists like AURORA on their song ‘Limousine’.

Despite Sykes’ criticism of ‘Medicine’, the song remains a fan-favorite among many Bring Me The Horizon listeners. The band has continued to evolve their sound over the years, not shying away from experimentation and risk-taking, which has allowed them to remain relevant in an ever-changing music industry
