Lisa, the rapper from BLACKPINK, has dropped a music video for her solo new single ‘Rockstar,’ her first release through RCA Records and LLOUD. The dance-driven music video features Lisa taking to the streets of Bangkok, Thailand, while boasting about her status as a rockstar and her love for the Japanese language. The song was co-written by Lisa and Ryan Tedder, along with Brittany Amaradio, James Essien, Lucy Healey, and Sam Homaee. ‘Rockstar’ also includes a sample from Tame Impala’s ‘New Person, Same Old Mistakes.’
LLOUD, the management company she created in February, said, “Having made numerous achievements with her album to become a global pop artist, Lisa’s ‘Rockstar’ is expected to garner listeners’ attention, especially with the backing of RCA Records.”
Lisa made her solo debut in September 2021 with her two-track single album ‘LALISA’, consisting of the title track of the same name and ‘Money’. In April 2023, she featured Big Bang singer Taeyang’s ‘Shoong!’. Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s Rosé has signed to The Black Label, headed by the K-pop group’s longtime producer Teddy Park.
Jisoo and Lisa launched their own solo companies Blissoo and LLOUD, respectively, in February 2024. Jennie established Odd Atelier in December 2023 and has since released ‘Slow Motion’ with Brockhampton’s Matt Champion. BLACKPINK have not renewed their individual contracts with longtime agency YG Entertainment but did re-sign for an “exclusive contract for group activities” with the agency
