Reform UK has responded to criticisms of its party by distancing itself from members accused of making racist, homophobic and Islamophobic comments while campaigning to get Nigel Farage elected as an MP. An undercover Channel 4 journalist recorded a number of people linked to the party suggesting that it had breached local spending limits in the constituency of Clacton and that it had used bigoted language at events. Mr Farage admitted that “one or two” people had made inappropriate comments but said other parties were guilty of this too. Reform UK said that unacceptable comments would no longer be supported by the campaign.
The recording featured claims that the party exceeded its election spending limit. A man identified as Reform UK canvasser Andrew Parker can be heard making offensive comments about the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, who is of Indian descent.
