Van Morrison announces new album ‘New Arrangements And Duets’

Music legend Van Morrison has announced that he has a brand new album called ‘New Arrangements And Duets’, set for release on September 27. The Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer delivered the exciting news in an Instagram post, stating that the album contains previously unreleased material. Morrison said, “This album represents a small percentage of the huge amount of unreleased material we are hoping to roll out in the near future, rather than letting it gather dust in some archive.”

The album is directed towards big band arrangements and features duets with an array of big names including Curtis Stigers, Joss Stone, Willie Nelson, and Kurt Elling, all of whom were recorded between 2018 and 2019. Choppin’ Wood, the album’s lead single, is a tribute to Morrison’s late father, and a big band performance of the song is on the album. ‘New Arrangements And Duets’ will be available in various formats including CD, standard black vinyl, and limited-edition orange vinyl.

Morrison is embarking on a handful of live shows next month in Europe as well as a show in California in October. The July tour will include performances in Dublin, Westonbirt, and Belfast. Meanwhile, the October shows will both be held at the Orpheus Theatre in Los Angeles. Fans looking forward to the release can head to the official website to pre-order or pre-save the album.

It’s not that surprising that the “Brown Eyed Girl” singer, who has been in the music business since the 1960s, would have a host of unreleased material in his archive. Morrison’s work spans numerous genres like folk, blues, jazz, and rock and roll. With similar levels of enthusiasm from his fans and a burst of creativity, there’s no doubt the music legend will have even more unreleased gems coming in the future
