Rhianon Passmore, a member of the Welsh Senedd for Labour’s Islwyn seat, has been administratively suspended from the party while investigations are underway regarding her conduct. Labour stated that all complaints are examined in accordance with the party’s procedures. The decision followed an allegation on the Guido Fawkes website that Passmore was driving a vehicle with two separate registration numbers. The BBC approached Passmore for comment but as yet has not received a response.
Guido Fawkes claimed Passmore was seen leaving the Welsh Parliament’s parking lot with her number plate hanging from the car, revealing a different one underneath. Passmore apologised for her actions, stating that she faced private difficulties that were challenging to overcome.
Passmore remarked that, on the day of her arrest, she had tried to drive from Cardiff to her mother’s house after drinking three glasses of wine. She experienced an asthma attack and consumed a high dose of prednisone medication. Her car eventually stopped working in the St Mellons area of the city, and while she waited for the breakdown service, police asked her to provide a breath sample. Passmore claimed she did not deliberately fail to offer a sample and was disturbed that she had been unable to administer her asthma medication correctly. A report by the Standards Committee stated that she had attempted twice but was unable to do so
