Country artists cover Beyoncé’s greatest hits for Apple Music

Country artists Brittney Spencer, BRELAND, Joy Oladokun and others have come together to cover some of Beyoncé’s classics for Apple Music. This move shows that Beyoncé’s country reign is still in full swing since her release of ‘Cowboy Carter’. Six Black country artists took part in the series of covers for Apple Music Nashville Sessions, with Tiera Kennedy, the singer who appeared on ‘Cowboy Carter’s ‘BLACKBIIRD’, covering ‘1+1’. Kennedy said of the covers that “Beyonce has opened a door that’s going to be really hard to close”.

Other artists included Brittney Spencer who sang ‘Irreplaceable’ and Tanner Adell who sang ‘Drunk In Love’. BRELAND will take on ‘Sandcastles’, Madeline Edwards will sing ‘Halo’, and Joy Oladokun will put her own spin on ‘II Most Wanted’. While the structure of the songs might have been Beyoncé’s, these six artists each added their own unique style to the songs they covered, making them their own.

‘Cowboy Carter’ was released in March and received a five-star review from NME as it allowed for country’s up-and-comers to feature on the album. As well as Beyoncé, other artists, such as Dolly Parton and The Beatles, were covered on the album. The album also showed some of Beyoncé’s political beliefs, which has been a relatively quiet topic for the singer in recent times.

In other news, Tina Knowles recently shared how Beyoncé dealt with bullies when she was younger. The series of covers done by these Black country artists shows that Beyoncé’s influence on the music industry continuously evolves and inspires new sounds amongst upcoming artists
