MJ Lenderman announces new album ‘Manning Fireworks’

Indie rock artist MJ Lenderman has recently announced the forthcoming release of his latest album, ‘Manning Fireworks’. According to the musician, the album will be available on September 6 via ANTI-. Fans can pre-order the album and pre-save it on various streaming platforms.

The announcement comes after Lenderman released a preview of the album in the form of the single ‘She’s Leaving You’. The release is accompanied by a music video that is reportedly inspired by Creed’s Thanksgiving Halftime Show mixed with ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, alongside the film ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’.

Before ‘Manning Fireworks’, Lenderman has released other singles like ‘Rudolph’ as well as ‘Joker Lips’ and ‘Wristwatch’, both of which he has already performed live. The new album will feature tracks like ‘Manning Fireworks’, ‘Rip Torn’, ‘You Don’t Know The Shape I’m In’, ‘On My Knees’, and ‘Bark At The Moon’.

The musician is known for his ability to combine cultural references and one-liners in his music to discuss real issues. In fact, per a press release, ‘Manning Fireworks’ sees Lenderman confront the pressure he felt after his previous album, ‘Boat Songs’, proved successful. Lenderman apparently asked himself what sort of musician he wanted to be, one who could dig through his cultural jetsam to say something substantial and bring clarity to a world he found cluttered.

‘Manning Fireworks’ arrives after ‘MJ Lenderman’ (2019), ‘Ghost of Your Guitar Solo’ (2021), and ‘Boat Songs’ (2022), all of which were released by the artist as a solo act. Last year, Lenderman released a live album, ‘And the Wind (Live and Loose!)’.

Listen to the single ‘She’s Leaving You’ now and be sure to pre-save and pre-order the album via your preferred streaming platform ahead of its September 6 release date
