American musician Kim Gordon has released a new single titled “ECRP” ahead of a run of tour dates in Europe. The noisy, experimental track follows the June release of Gordon’s latest album, “The Collective,” which was reviewed positively by NME. The outlet described the album as a “clangorous, cutting experiment with trap beats and abrasive noise,” and praised Gordon, formerly of Sonic Youth, for delivering “truly individual art.”
Gordon’s daughter Coco Gordon Moore directed the video for “ECRP,” which features several street scenes from New York City. The musician will begin her European tour at the Koko in London, followed by stops at festivals including Glastonbury, Open’er, and Roskilde.
“The Collective” blends Gordon’s experimental tendencies with modern production values and lyrics focused on societal issues such as capitalism and toxic masculinity. The album was described as sounding “contemporary” by NME, particularly in the context of the ongoing resurgence of grunge.
Gordon’s second solo album features earlier singles “Psychedelic Orgasm,” “I’m A Man,” and “BYE BYE” in addition to “ECRP.” The release follows her 2019 debut solo album “No Home Record,” which was also received positively by critics.
Despite her years of experience in the music industry, Gordon continues to create entirely unique music that sets her apart from her contemporaries. Her willingness to experiment and push musical boundaries ensures that her work remains fresh and engaging for listeners both new and old
