The memory of drum ‘n’ bass pioneer MC Conrad will live on thanks to a new foundation which has been established in his honour. The MC Conrad Foundation has been set up to provide support and guidance to young and emerging artists, teaching them skills such as intellectual property and how to establish themselves as self-employed creatives. The foundation has been established with the aid of a fundraising campaign, launched in the months following Conrad’s passing in April 2021 at 52 years old.
The fundraiser aims not only to offer financial support to young musicians but also hopes to challenge some of the systemic issues young and marginalised artists face in the music industry. The foundation will be lead by a team of experts in their field and hopes to support those looking to break through.
Conrad was passionate about mentoring young people in their vocal and creative endeavours and found great joy in sharing his expertise. His family have requested that, instead of sending flowers, mourners make a donation to the foundation to help fulfil Conrad’s dreams and aspirations.
Money raised will not only fund the foundation but also contribute to a headstone for Conrad, offering his friends, family and fans a place to pay tribute to his memory. With over £2,000 already collected, the MC Conrad Foundation hopes to hit a target of £20,000.
Conrad’s impact on drum ‘n’ bass and the broader music world has been recognised by his fans and contemporaries alike. An outpouring of love from all corners of the globe is testament to his warm personality and the respect held for him within the music industry
