During a recent Foo Fighters show, frontman Dave Grohl called out Taylor Swift. Performing at London Stadium on Saturday, Grohl went on to comment that Swift was also having a concert down the road at Wembley. The audience booed at the name, to which Grohl spoke up about not wanting to face the wrath of the popstar. Grohl then teased the crowd by renaming their tour the ‘Errors Tour’, poking fun at Swift’s pre-recorded performances. Adding onto his joke, Grohl described that the band’s live performances were raw and ‘rock ‘n’ roll’.
Swift seemingly responded to Grohl’s dig after receiving a standing ovation at her Wembley event the subsequent night. She gave praise to her band and crew, subtly hinting at Grohl’s quip. The relationship between Grohl and Swift hasn’t always been contentious, however. Grohl had previously applauded Swift for saving him from an embarrassing party performance by playing a song.
There has been speculation that Grohl’s jab at Swift could have been due to his 17-year-old daughter being bullied by Swift fans online earlier this year. After his daughter Violet had posted about Swift flying privately everywhere, fans had reportedly sent death threats to Violet. Despite this, Swift had not spoken out against the fans’ actions, leading some fans to question her authenticity as a feminist.
Social media was quick to react to footage of Grohl’s joke. Some criticized Grohl for attacking Swift, while others applauded the rocker for his bold statement. Regardless, the relationship between the two musicians is on shakier terms than before
