Bristolian punk band IDLES has recorded their own version of the classic children’s TV show hit, ‘Stick Song!’. The new rendition was created to coincide with an episode of CBeebies’ ‘Hey Duggee’ titled ‘The Carrot Badge’. The episode pays tribute to summer solstice music festivals. Both the new Carrot Solstice episode and IDLES’ performance at the Other Stage at Glastonbury will be broadcast within days of each other. ‘
IDLES’ revival of the song is set to win over parents and children alike, with the original music video having accumulated over 17 million views on YouTube. The entire series of ‘Hey Duggee’ has more than three billion views and remains popular as CBeebies’ most beloved children’s TV show.
IDLES has previously appeared on CBeebies’ ‘Bedtime Stories’, with their frontman Joe Talbot reading a book titled ‘Under the Love Umbrella’. Renowned musicians such as Dolly Parton, Harry Styles and Dave Grohl have participated in the segment. In a statement at the time, Talbot expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to read on CBeebies.
Following the release of their summer album ‘TANGK’, IDLES has an extensive touring schedule. At the end of their summer dates, they will embark on a UK headlining tour. ABC reports that the punk rockers recently released a cover of Little Simz’s ‘Mood Swings’, featuring the sounds of Chemical Brothers and Peaches.
Their 2024 world tour dates include performing at The Piece Hall and at Margate Summer Series in July, before moving on to various North American venues in September. Finally, they will finish their tour in December with back-to-back appearances at the Manchester O2 Apollo
