A celebration of nature is taking place in Liverpool’s Central Library in the form of a Butterfly Ball. Held in honor of the Botanicals exhibition, which will showcase nature-inspired artwork and historical prints, the event will be held on June 29th from 10am to 4.30pm.
The free event is family-friendly and will feature insects and costumes scattered throughout the Discover Library, along with sustainable making activities. Visitors may even spot an appearance by Willian Roscoe, the politician and ecologist who penned the poem that inspired the event.
The event is being put together in partnership with City of Liverpool College students and tutors. The day’s program will include butterfly-themed shadow puppetry workshops, fun games and activities, music workshops centered on eco instruments, and storytelling sessions. Students from the City of Liverpool College will also showcase an exhibition of sustainable fashion.
Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite flower, plant, or insect. For those who don’t have a costume the opportunity to make their own will be available on the day itself. The exhibition will be on display at the Hornby Library until the end of August.
Attendance at the Butterfly Ball is free. For further details and registration, please visit https://lpoolcouncil.info/ButterflyBall
