English rock band Suede previewed a new track, “Antidepressants”, at their recent set at Isle of Wight 2024. Frontman Brett Anderson introduced the song after performing the hit “Filmstar”. The song features jagged post-punk guitars with Anderson delivering the verses in sprechgesang mode, before the chorus kicks in, reminiscent of Suede’s anthemic style. “Antidepressants” is the band’s first sneak peek at their upcoming tenth album. The band has yet to announce the official release date for the song on streaming platforms.

Isle of Wight 2024 had several performances from other artists including Pet Shop Boys, Keane, Loreen, Blossoms and Jessie J.

In 2022, Anderson and bassist Mat Osman explained in an interview that their tenth album, which was already in progress, is experimental and still untitled. Anderson said, “the next record will be completely different. You just have to do it one at a time, really.” He further explained, “I do think of those three records as [being] together, especially ‘Night Thoughts’ and ‘The Blue Hour’.”

Suede will be performing a huge outdoor show in the UK this August, following their co-headlining tour with Manic Street Preachers. The show at Audley End in Saffron Walden, Essex, will feature special guests Johnny Marr and Nadine Shah. Earlier this year, Brett Anderson also collaborated with Shah on a cover of Mercury Rev’s ‘Holes’
