A Scottish football fan, Gary Ellis, was involved in a car accident in Germany as they were heading to the opening match of Euro 2024 in Munich. Gary, along with four other friends who were also in the car, were taken to a hospital in Germany. Passenger Gary underwent back surgery on Monday and is currently recovering in Germany. His friends, who sustained injuries in the accident, are already back home in Scotland. His mother, Mandy Coleman, expressed her thanks to everyone who has supported her family during this difficult time.

After the accident, Gary’s close friend set up a GoFundMe page with a target of £15,000 to raise funds for Gary’s treatment. Donors have since raised over £11,000, much to the surprise and gratitude of Mandy Coleman. She mentioned that strangers who didn’t even know them or Gary have donated generously to help with his recovery. The money donated is expected to go a long way to help him recover and support him until he is well enough to return to normal life.

Gary is working with physios to regain his mobility, and although he is beginning to walk again, he is expected to undergo a long recovery process before he can return to normal life. Gary’s mum, dad and girlfriend traveled to Germany to support him and Gary’s positive attitude has helped keep them stay positive. They are determined to remain optimistic and upbeat for Gary’s sake and cope with the situation the best way they can.

Gary is a healthy and fit young man, who is very active, and is determined to regain his mobility soon. Mandy added that with Gary’s determination, the love and support from everyone, they are confident that he will make a good recovery. Gary shared a video on Facebook of him walking after his surgery and thanked everyone for their support. He called it the biggest physical and mental challenge he has ever faced, but he believes that nothing will beat him.

Throughout this ordeal, the outpouring of support from strangers has been overwhelming for Gary’s family and goes a long way to show that people are still capable of kindness and compassion
