ANNA has curated ‘GU46: Lisbon’, the latest addition to the renowned Global Underground series. In the release, ANNA showcased her recent interest in spiritualism, which shaped the record’s broad range of styles from ambient to techno. Her single ‘Kalimba Dreams’ stands out as a prime example of this spiritual influence. Other contributors to the album include Rebūke, Wehbba, Paul Roux, Victor Ruiz, BICEP, Bonobo, Jacques Green, TSHA, and Daniel Avery.
ANNA, who views herself as a citizen of the world despite growing up near São Paulo, stated that she has been working on combining her techno music with her ambient work since 2017. Spirituality has had a significant influence on her recent music, and this is evident in the project’s approach. She chose tracks that were in line with her spiritual growth and trusted her intuition when selecting them. ANNA also mentioned that the album’s two CDs represent contrasting facets of her, where CD1 highlights her softer mellow side, while CD2 presents her harder techno sound.
Global Underground founder Andy Horsfield commented on ANNA’s inclusion in the GU family, sharing his excitement over the collaboration. ‘GU46: Lisbon,’ which ANNA curated, is now available. It is accessible digitally on the internet, but it is also available in a luxury CD, triple 12″ vinyl, or limited collector’s edition, in keeping with Global Underground’s popularity.
While ANNA feels creatively inspired by Lisbon due to its unique energy and association with Brazil, listeners can look forward to experiencing ANNA’s vast musical range through ‘GU46: Lisbon.
