Singer Charli XCX has released a new version of her song “Girl, so confusing” which features vocals from Lorde, the artist who inspired the track. Charli teased the remix on social media earlier this week, sharing a billboard that simply read “Lorde” and offering followers a sneak preview of the track via her private Instagram account. The full remix is now available to stream online.

In the new version, Lorde sings the lines, “Well honestly I was speechless / When I woke up to your voice note / You told me how you’ve been feeling / Let’s work it out on the remix.” Charli has previously spoken about how Lorde served as the partial inspiration for the song, which she worked on years ago.

Despite admitting to being “super jealous” of Lorde’s success when they were both younger, Charli and Lorde are good friends and have supported each other’s recent work. Lorde recently praised Charli’s album “Brat” on Twitter, calling it “so much grit, grace & skin in the game.” Charli previously revealed that the song “Talk Talk” was inspired by a moment at the NME Awards in which she and The 1975’s George Daniel were texting one another from separate tables.

Charli’s “Brat” album has received positive reviews, with NME awarding it four stars and describing it as a “club record” packed with “pure party girl hedonism,” “percolating beats,” and “brash synths.” Meanwhile, Lorde has been teasing her own forthcoming fourth album on social media, sharing cryptic updates with followers
