During an appearance on the Today show, Jesse Plemons addressed being mistaken for Matt Damon, stating that he considers it “flattering”. The comparisons have followed him for years, with Plemons joking that he was finding “fewer people refer to me as ‘Meth Damon’” in a recent interview with British GQ. The Killers of the Flower Moon star had also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live where he addressed the comparisons and revealed that he was portrayed a young version of Damon’s character in the 2000 movie All the Pretty Horses when he was just 12 years old.

Plemons, who was on the Today show alongside co-star Emma Stone, shared how he’s had various Damon-associated nicknames throughout his career. Stone joked with him that it’s similar to the ongoing conversation about her preferred name, Emily. However, Plemons reassured her that he would go by “Emily Damon” if he had to choose.

Kinds of Kindness is the latest movie for Plemons, who stars alongside Stone, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie and Hunter Schaefer. Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, the movie arrives in UK cinemas on June 28.

Throughout his career, Plemons has established himself as a versatile actor. He has worked on a number of television and film projects, including AMC’s Breaking Bad and Netflix’s Black Mirror. Most recently, he appeared alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in Killers of the Flower Moon, a crime drama directed by Martin Scorsese. With each new project, Plemons continues to cement himself as one of the most exciting actors working today.
