BLUMITSU, consisting of Jossy Mitsu and Bluetoof, has released their debut project “The Formula”. The release is a two-track that pays homage to electro’s rich history, dipping into the retro-futuristic world-building established by artists like Drexciya. According to a press release, the duo combines “North African-influenced percussive flickers of Bluetoof’s work” with “echoes of the frenetic bass-infused UK techno of Jossy Mitsu.”
The duo’s passion for techno and electro has led them to experiment with different sounds in their solo careers, including putting on a spontaneously merged performance at Rinse and collaborating at places like Horst festival, Love Saves The Day, and Project 6. With their shared passion and experience in the world of music, the duo released the project, building energy with each track.
As the first track, “The Formula” is considered the center of the project, both sequentially and conceptually. The following track, “Hypocritz,” takes a darker turn and is deemed perfect for the early hours of a club setting with its driving 4×4 kick pattern and hypnotic synth fidgets. You can catch BLUMITSU’s performance together this summer at Glastonbury and Waterworks. Be sure to check out their debut project “The Formula” and keep an eye out for any upcoming projects
