Netflix premiered a brand new documentary entitled “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders”. The documentary tells the story of the class of 2023 from auditions, to training camp and finally their NFL season. Greg Whiteley, director of another Netflix success “Last Chance U”, directed and produced the documentary. The series takes an inside look at the auditions, the behind the scenes training and the ongoing process of becoming a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader.
The documentary has become one of the most recent additions to the streaming giant’s content roster, releasing on June 20th. The synopsis promised that “this is the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders like you’ve never seen them before” and the documentary certainly delivers on that promise. The physically and emotionally demanding journey of becoming a cheerleader, particularly of Dallas Cowboys, is captured by Whiteley in a clear and thoughtful way.
The series features a great mix of music, featuring familiar hits from some of the biggest names within the industry. “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders” features songs from AC/DC, Lizzo, and Aerosmith, to name a few. The documentary’s seven episodes each incorporate a specific range of licensed music from popular artists, adding a great soundtrack to the already highly engaging content.
The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders date back to the 1960s and are a highly-regarded element to the NFL, having reached iconic status over the years.
