TWICE’s Nayeon: “What you see is exactly who I am”

With the release of her sophomore mini-album, “Na,” Nayeon cements her status as the center of the universe. The album’s title is Korean for “I,” reflecting Nayeon’s focus on herself as she sings in the addictive title track “ABCD.” In an interview with NME, Nayeon reveals she seeks to show different sides of herself with this album and make everyone “fall deeper” in love with her.

“Na” contains seven tracks that explore a mix of genres, including Y2K pop, alluring R&B, and UK garage beats. It even features collaborations with her favorite artists, including Sam Kim, AKMU’s Lee Chan-hyuk, and KISS OF LIFE’s Julie. Nayeon explains that she picked “ABCD” as the album’s title track because she loved the song and thought it suitable for the role.

The mini-album also contains three songs fully sung in English, reflecting Nayeon’s desire to reach a wider audience and experience a diversity of experiences. She even recruited a first-class team of writers and producers, including BTS collaborators Pdogg and Adora, JYP Entertainment co-founder J.Y. Park, and R&B singer-songwriter SOLE.

As someone with nearly a decade of experience as a K-pop idol, Nayeon has relaxed and grown into her profession. She reveals that most of herself is pretty public now, seen through her daily life on TV. Although there are currently no plans for a solo tour or concerts, she’s pretty sure new music is just around the corner. Fans can find “Na” on various music services, including Spotify and Apple Music
