A forthcoming Game Of Thrones spin-off series is reportedly in development, as confirmed by the HBO Max series’ official X account. According to the post shared on the platform yesterday, the new production, titled A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms, is currently underway and will be available for streaming on the Max platform soon.
The upcoming series is based on George R. R. Martin’s novel, The Hedge Knight, and is set to take place approximately a century before the events of Game Of Thrones and a century after the events of House Of The Dragon, which recently released its second season. According to various reports, A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms will follow the journey of Ser Duncan the Tall and his young squire, Egg, as they contend with several members of the infamous Targaryen dynasty.
The show’s logline reads: “Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.” A number of actors have been cast in the show, including Finn Bennett of True Detective: Night Country, Bertie Carvel of Doctor Foster, Tanzyn Crawford of Hulu miniseries Tiny Beautiful Things, and Daniel Ings of Sex Education, The Gentleman, and The Crown.
Last April, Martin hinted that a fresh prequel to the successful HBO show was in development, stating that the script was created by a team of Game Of Thrones specialists. Meanwhile, HBO recently confirmed that the television series is set to be renewed for a third season. Although no specific release date has been announced for A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has reported that it will debut in “late 2025.”
