Jay Slater: Missing man in Tenerife was on first holiday with friends

Debbie Duncan, the mother of 19-year-old Jay Slater, who has been missing in Tenerife since Monday morning, has flown out to the island to search for her son. The family has said that Slater was not a drinker, but had been drinking shorts and spirits with the two men he left with. Duncan added that Slater did not appear to be afraid or worried about the men he left with when he called Lucy.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said, “We are supporting the family of a British man who has been reported missing in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.” Slater’s mother described her son as a “nice, bubbly guy with hundreds of friends who love being in his company,” and said that she was growing increasingly desperate to find him
