Robyn has made her first major release since her 2018 album “Honey”, teaming up with DJ and producer Jamie xx on a new single called “Life”. The track is set to feature on Jamie xx’s upcoming album “In Waves”, which is due for release on September 20 via Young. “Life” is a nu-disco track featuring Robyn’s luscious house vocals and anthemic horns. Jamie xx spoke about the track, saying “I made this track pretty fast (for me) and I loved it from day one. When I first heard Robyn’s vocal it was at 6AM after finishing playing at Pacha in Ibiza, it was the perfect moment.”
Speaking about the collaboration, Robyn said “Jamie is such a brilliant creator, I’m excited to be part of his album” and that “I just want to see how ‘Life’ gets people dancing this summer. I can’t wait for that”. The pair have known each other for several years, with Jamie xx saying “Robyn and I have spent time working together and hanging out for some years now, it’s always a joy and always inspiring. I’m so glad and grateful that she is a part of ‘In Waves’. Thank you Robyn for bringing this track to life!”
“In Waves” will be Jamie xx’s first album in over nine years, following on from his 2015 debut “In Colour”. The album features 12 tracks, including collaborations with The Avalanches, Kelsey Lu, John Glacier, Panda Bear, Oona Doherty, and Romy and Oliver Sim from the xx.
