Fred Again.. had to put his first headline stadium show in the US on pause while he was performing ‘Adore U’ with Obongjayar in the crowd to tell fans to “get off the stage” as they started a spontaneous rave. The South London-born producer, whose real name is Fred Gibson, brought a synthesizer into the stands to give a more intimate performance of his hit song with Obongjayar. During the performance, however, the show turned awry as fans climbed on the stage and started dancing.
On June 14, Fred again.. performed at the 77,500-capacity Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum where he brought Romy out to perform her 2022 single ‘Strong’ that he appeared on. He even posted photos from the show on social media the following day expressing his gratitude, “I will never forget that, thank you.” A day later, he headlined the final night at Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee, and earlier in the month, he had a three-day residency at the Frost Amphitheatre in Stanford, California.
The Memorial Coliseum show was only announced on June 9, as Fred had been working on this for months and he expressed on social media that it’s been the “maddest live show we’ve ever tried to do so far.” Fred again.. is scheduled to headline at Reading & Leeds in August and play at the Flow Festival in Helsinki later this summer.
Fred again..’s last full-length album, ‘Secret Life,’ was a collaboration with Brian Eno and was given a three-star rating by NME. The descriptions that it works best as a puzzle piece rather than a standout record. Although the album is frequently beautiful, NME says it’s somewhat forgettable
