New DIY-focused magazine ACCRA is highlighting grassroots creativity and community

ARCCA: Build Together is a recently launched magazine and archive that highlights communities’ creative talent and celebrates their stories. The print publication aims to support local and community-building initiatives, drawing attention to underrepresented voices and unexplored narratives.

The magazine spotlights a variety of artists, organizations, and creators, including Jokkoo Collective, Body Movements, Annie Frost Nicholson, and SICARIA. It also features Khari Lucas on its cover and offers insights into New Horizon Youth Centre.

Fleur Adderly and Danny Byrne lead the magazine’s description and aim to pass on knowledge to future generations. They see ARCCA as more than a magazine, describing it as a documentary, a collection of building blocks, and notes from a community in action.

The publication’s mission is to be a resilient reference point and to offer ways to share experiences and kindness. With this project, they provide a glimpse into local communities’ identities and their efforts to nurture creativity and foster relationships
