During her visit to BBC Radio One’s Live Lounge, Sabrina Carpenter covered Chappell Roan’s ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ The American singer performed her latest single ‘Please Please Please’ and a stripped-down version of Roan’s song. Carpenter transformed the track’s intro into a ballad before switching the tempo back to its original pop sound.
Additionally, Carpenter’s sixth album ‘Short N Sweet’ is due to be released on August 23 via Island Records. During her recent performance at Gov Ball in New York, Carpenter played ‘Please Please Please’ live for the first time. After reading a fan’s sign requesting she play the song, she joked: “Look, I know I said I can’t relate to desperation but I’m just a girl so uhm.”
Carpenter recently partnered with Kim Kardashian’s clothing brand SKIMS, which led to speculation about her friendship with Taylor Swift. The singer addressed the rumours, stating that there is no tension between her and Swift. However, Carpenter faced criticism for allegedly copying a French magazine for the artwork of her new album without giving the publication credit.
Carpenter has been busy promoting her new music. She previously told Rolling Stone that she’s had ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ on “loopty loop.” Her recent cover of the song puts a unique twist on the original track, keeping Roan’s pop-driven sound while adding Carpenter’s distinctive vocal style. Fans can look forward to hearing more of Carpenter’s music when ‘Short N Sweet’ is released later this summer
