A 12-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Coventry, and his school, family, and the community have been left in shuddering shock. Keaton Slater, a student at Cardinal Newman Catholic School, was fatally injured last Friday afternoon on Radford Road. The head of his school expressed the school’s sadness at his loss, describing him as a “fun-loving, popular student” with an “incredible smile and his wonderful sense of humour”. Coventry City Football Club, of which he was a huge supporter, sent condolences to the Slater family.
The school is providing the community with additional counsellors, lay chaplain, and staff support to assist them during this tragic time. Dozens of flowers were laid to pay tribute to Keaton at the site of the tragedy, with one resident saying that it was “gutting” for both the family and the local community. Coventry City also expressed their condolences and said that the entire sky blue community’s thoughts and concerns were with Keaton’s loved ones, family, and friends.
Police on Sunday named a 21-year-old man suspected of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the accident. The authorities urged anyone with information about the whereabouts of Dolars Aleksanders to contact them. A black BMW found abandoned in New Arley on Friday evening has been taken into custody by the authorities.
This has been a tragic event for the family, school, and community. Keaton’s beautiful smile, infectious personality, and his love for football will always be remembered by his loved ones and friends. The school, community, and Coventry City will continue to offer counselling, support, and condolences. The entire Coventry community grieves with Keaton’s family during this time of profound loss
