On Father’s Day, Prince William received a special message from his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, on the family’s social media accounts. The post, which marks the children’s first social media message, featured a photo of William standing on a beach with his arms around his children and looking out towards the sea. In the caption, the children wrote, “We love you, Papa. Happy Father’s Day” followed by two red hearts and a sign-off from “G, C & L.” The image was taken by Catherine, the Princess of Wales, during a trip to the Norfolk coast last month.

William also posted a Father’s Day tribute to his own father, King Charles III, on Sunday. The post featured a photo of William playing football with his father in the gardens of Kensington Palace when he was a child. The post was signed off by the Prince, wishing his father a happy Father’s Day. William’s younger brother, the Duke of Sussex, was born a few months after the photo was taken. The post was seen as a potential nod to the England football team, who played later that day in Euro 2024.

The Royal Family’s official social media account shared archive footage of King Charles III with his father, Prince Philip, on Father’s Day. The video featured black-and-white clips of the King as a child, including one of Prince Philip lifting him out of a pram and another of the pair enjoying a sailing trip. The video was set to classical piano music and captioned, “Wishing all Dads, and those who may be missing their parents today, a relaxing Father’s Day.” Prince Philip, who appears in the footage, died in 2021.

The family’s social media posts came a day after the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony, which celebrates the Queen’s official birthday. It marked Catherine’s first public appearance of the year as she is currently receiving chemotherapy treatment for cancer. The King is also receiving treatment for the illness and only returned to public duties at the end of April. The royals were greeted by cheers from the crowd as they travelled in their carriages from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade in central London
