Stone is back with their latest single “Queen”, which is a preview of their upcoming debut album, and they’ve also announced a UK and European tour. Their debut album, “Fear Life For A Lifetime,” is set to release on July 12, and is available for pre-order/pre-save. “Queen,” which features an ear-catching opening line, “I could drown in a bath of expensive wine,” is an anthemic and infectious indie rocker. According to frontman Fin Power, he writes, “Queen” from the perspective of the person he was seeing at the time, “I remember someone saying to me, ‘you know, I don’t love myself, but I love the way you look at me.’ It’s a song about how falling in love is actually such a powerful thing that it makes you doubt yourself.”
In addition to their latest release, Stone has announced a UK and European tour, which kicks off on September 30 in Berlin, with 15 UK headline gigs eventually concluding in Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse on November 26. The album follows their two successful EPs, “Punkadonk,” and the band hit the road with big names including Bruce Springsteen, Sam Fender, and Yungblud.
The album has been described as “coming together like a coming-of-age narrative – a place that can help people navigate the tumultuous experiences of young adulthood…If you’ve felt love but not always felt you deserved it; if you’ve been ambitious but also racked with self-doubt; if you’ve been confident at times but crushed by anxiety at others: this is the album for you.” The four-piece who make up Stone is Fin Power (vocals), Elliot Gill (guitar), Sarah Surrage (bass), and Alex Smith (drums), and they recorded the album in Vermont with producer Rich Costey.
Stone’s 2024 live dates include a run of live in-store events at UK record stores around the release of the album in July. NME awarded their debut EP ‘Punkadonk four stars in 2021, and according to them, “Rather than follow safely in the footsteps of the northern stars they’ve been on the road with, Stone has used their first EP as an opportunity to build upon their own punchy identity – and, thanks to the electricity coursing through ‘Punkadonk’, that decision has paid off.
