The Black Keys have signed with new management after publicly splitting from their previous team. The band’s North American tour was cancelled, and they blamed their former management team for the situation. Billboard reported that the parting had been amicable. The Black Keys then signed up with Red Light Management whose clients include The Dave Matthews Band, The Strokes, and Chris Stapleton. The CEO of Red Light Management, Coran Capshaw, did not comment, while Irving Azoff’s representative declined to respond.
After the cancellation of The Black Keys’ North American tour, rumors circulated that ticket sales were to blame. The band revealed that the tour had been scrapped and re-planned in favor of smaller theater venues. The Black Keys split from their management team a few days later. Rolling Stone magazine reported the signing up to Red Light Management, citing a source close to the situation.
The Black Keys’ 12th album, Ohio Players, was released in April, just before their canceled tour. The album received a three-star review from NME. The band recalled working with Noel Gallagher in the studio last year, whom they referred to as ‘The Chord Lord’ because of his perfectionism with chords.
Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys featured on the new Johnny Cash song ‘Spotlight’, released last week. The track will be part of an album of unreleased songs by Cash called ‘Songwriter’, set to be released later this year.
