Anohni and the Johnsons made their long-awaited return to the stage with their first show in nine years in Athens. The performance took place at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and included a mix of new material and classics from their back catalog. The band’s last live appearance was in 2015 in Hobart, Australia. The group was introduced by celebrated performance artist Marina Abramovic, setting the tone for a special night.
The performance featured several live debuts, including the songs “It Must Change,” “Can’t,” and “Why Am I Alive Now?” from Anohni’s 2016 solo album ‘Hopelessness’. Fans at the show eagerly captured the moment on camera, sharing footage of the performance on social media platforms.
Anohni and the Johnsons also released their latest single, “Breaking,” taken from their last album, “My Back Was A Bridge For You To Cross.” The band is preparing to embark on a North American tour later in the year with the Johnsons. The tour will be the band’s first with a full band in 14 years, following a personal hiatus from the scene.
The tour will begin in Mexico City in September, visiting several major cities across North America, including Los Angeles, Oakland, and Toronto. The band will wrap up its North American tour in Brooklyn on October 19. According to Anohni, “these times are unprecedented, and to hold and express a sense of what’s really happening.”
Tickets for the ANOHNI and the Johnsons North American tour are on sale now via TicketMaster. The European leg of the tour includes two sold-out performances in London’s Barbican Centre. Fans worldwide will be excited to catch the band’s electrifying return to the live tour circuit
