Daytimers to take over London’s Horniman Museum for celebration of South Asian artistry

The Horniman Museum in Forest Hill, South East London will host a day festival in celebration of South Asian creativity on Saturday, June 15 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The museum invited the Daytimers, a South Asian underground collective, to take over the space for the event. Daytimers are recognized for their impact on dance music, and the festival will showcase a variety of South Asian creativity, including DJ sets, live performances, talks, workshops, and food and drinks. Inclusivity and accessibility are a fundamental part of their wider mission to engage with the community.

The festival lineup includes some of the most acclaimed artists from the South Asian community. Tara Lily, the British Bengali indo-jazz musician, will be among the performers, as well as Jawari, the sitar led band. The legendary dubstep artist and System Music founder, V.I.V.E.K, NTS presenter Sway of the Verses, and other artists will perform at the event. Daytimers have partnered with various establishments across the UK and have brought together a diverse range of cultures.

Daytimers combines club nights and festivals with an array of activities, including exhibitions, installations, music workshops, and film screenings. They have been actively promoting South Asian artists, challenging the status quo against the under-representation of culture and creativity of people from the region. The event at the Horniman Museum, which will see them promote inclusivity and accessibility, is part of their mission to raise awareness of the potential of South Asian creatives
