Kensington Palace has announced that Prince William will be attending the England football game against Denmark in Frankfurt next week. He will be travelling to Germany to watch England’s second group stage match of the Euro 2024 tournament following their opening match against Serbia on Sunday. His father, King Charles, has also shown an interest in football and was seen sharing his thoughts with David Beckham at an event at St James’s Palace on Tuesday evening.
Prince William’s visit to the England football team earlier this week saw the Prince of Wales present shirts to all 26 players in the squad. During his visit, he advised the team with a piece of unconventional advice, stating that during the school run his son Prince Louis had said the England team should “eat twice the amount you normally would eat”. He humorously added that he had visions of the players running around with “massive great tummies” as a result.
Prince William is an enthusiastic supporter of the Aston Villa football club and was accompanied by his son Prince George to the FA Cup Final last month, where he presented Manchester United with the trophy. Despite England’s faltering preparations and a loss to Iceland, Beckham remained optimistic, remarking that England were just “warming up”. King Charles diplomatically replied, “You don’t want to expend it all in one go at the beginning”.
With Prince William due to attend the England versus Denmark game in Frankfurt next Thursday, it’s likely that he will be hoping to cheer the national team to victory. As a keen football fan and the President of the Football Association, it’s clear that Prince William is invested in the England team’s progress and will be eagerly anticipating their performances in subsequent matches
