Actor Daniel Craig has unveiled his new look ahead of filming the third instalment in the Knives Out film franchise, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. The black-and-white image sees Craig in an expensive suit with long, parted hair. Craig will once again play detective Benoit Blanc, who will solve his “most dangerous case yet” in the third film. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery features an already loaded cast, including Jeremy Renner, Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Josh O’Connor, and Caile Spaeny.
Director Rian Johnson, who will once again return as the writer and director of the Knives Out franchise, has revealed that plot details are yet to be confirmed. However, in a teaser shared in May, Blanc states the film will feature his most dangerous case yet. Johnson has previously written his admiration for the malleability of the whodunnit genre, describing the range from Carr to Christie and how exciting it is to explore that range in Benoit Blanc movies.
Responding to Renner’s casting in the upcoming film, several Knives Out fans went on social media and affirmed they had already worked out the mystery of Wake Up Dead Man. A user joked, “Judging by the history of other Marvel actors playing Knives Out villains he definitely did it,” referring to the casting of Chris Evans (Knives Out) and Edward Norton (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery) as villains in their respective instalments. Evans played Captain America in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films, and Norton starred as the superhero in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.
