Michael Mosley: Search for missing TV presenter enters fourth day

The search for Michael Mosley, a 67-year-old television presenter known for his programmes and podcast on BBC Radio 4, is set to enter its fourth day as rescue teams continue to look for him on the Greek island of Symi. Mosley was reported missing on Wednesday after leaving Agios Nikolaos beach at 13:30 local time. CCTV footage shows him in Pedi, a nearby village, at around 13:50 holding an umbrella. A member of the rescue team described the search as a “race against time” and stated that he could be “anywhere”. Separate CCTV footage shows Mosley entering a mountain path that runs inland from Pedi’s marina at about 14:00.

The search and rescue operation includes divers, helicopters, and drones, with all patrol boats, private boats and commercial boats near the island also helping. Police have been using drones and sniffer dogs to try to locate the presenter. Mosley’s phone was found where he was staying with his wife, Clare, who reported him missing. Mosley’s three adult sons and one daughter have flown to the island to join the search.

Mosley studied medicine in London and qualified as a doctor but has been working as a presenter, documentary maker, journalist, and author for the past couple of decades. He writes a column for the Daily Mail, and his TV programmes include Michael Mosley: Who Made Britain Fat? and Trust Me, I’m A Doctor. Mosley and his wife, Clare Bailey Mosley, have four children.

Responding to the news of his disappearance, his Trust Me, I’m A Doctor co-star Dr Saleyha Ahsan said she was “praying he is found safe” and that she feels “sick with worry”. On Thursday’s edition of The One Show, presenter Alex Jones expressed concern that “our friend” had gone missing, stating that their thoughts were with Mosley’s wife and family at this worrying time
