Pop icon Cyndi Lauper recently announced that she will be embarking on a farewell tour later this year to celebrate with her fans one last time. The singer clarified that this doesn’t mean she’s retiring entirely, but that she wants to take a break from the rigorous touring schedule. Although she remains open to occasional performances in her hometown, she ruled out going on long tours that involve extensive travel, such as planes, trains, and automobiles.
Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel, Lauper revealed that she wants to do an arena tour that allows her to go out on a high note. However, she acknowledged that age is not on her side and that she may not feel as strong physically in a few years. For this reason, she has decided that now is the right time to embark on a farewell tour and make it a fun celebration with her fans.
The ticket pre-sale for Lauper’s farewell tour is currently ongoing, and it’s available to fans who use the code “CHORD”. The general ticket sales will commence today (June 7th) at 10 am local time. The tour will kick off in Montreal in October, and it will conclude in Chicago in December. The full list of dates is available on the official site.
Before starting her farewell tour, Lauper will perform an “exclusive” greatest hits show at the Royal Albert Hall in London on June 26th. She will also perform at Glastonbury Festival later that weekend, marking her first UK solo concert in eight years. Lauper released a documentary titled Let The Canary Sing recently, which chronicles her career and activism work for queer rights, allyship, and women’s rights.
Lauper is an iconic singer known for hits such as “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and “Time After Time.” Her unique voice and fashion style have made her an influential figure in the music industry and a role model for many up-and-coming artists
