Singer-songwriters Soccer Mommy and Phoebe Bridgers treated fans to a live performance of Elliott Smith’s ‘The Biggest Lie’. The duo performed together at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles, California. Bridgers had been brought out on stage by Soccer Mommy as a surprise guest during the performance. Both artists are longtime fans of Smith, with Bridgers even writing the title-track of her album ‘Punisher’ about her admiration for him. Fans shared footage of the performance online.
Soccer Mommy also debuted three new tracks at the event. ‘Abigail’, ‘Thinking Of You’, and ‘Changes’ were all performed live for the first time in front of an audience. She also played ‘Blossom (Wasting All My Time)’ and ‘Try’ for the first time since 2019. Footage of the debuts has not been posted online.
Elsewhere, Soccer Mommy teased her new song ‘Lost’, due to be released at midnight on 7 June. A teaser clip has been shared on her Instagram account.
Phoebe Bridgers won three Grammy Awards back in February with Boygenius for ‘Not Strong Enough’ (Best Rock Performance) and Best Rock Song). They also won Best Alternative Music Album for ‘The Record’. Boygenius subsequently announced their hiatus at a secret show in LA.
