Ms Rathbone has said that it is an uncertain environment and that the Labour politicians will have to wait and see what happens. It is speculated that there will be a meeting between Labour politicians that will take place on Friday.

Mr Gething has been called upon to resign by the opposition but has refused. This vote has come after months of controversy over the £200,000 donation made to his leadership campaign by Dauson Environmental Group, owned by a man previously convicted of illegal waste dumping.

Ms Rathbone also said that receiving money from those who have committed environmental crimes is a problem and that the Senedd’s reputation is at risk. She also mentioned that this issue was raised during the general election campaign and that the discomfort is felt by everyone who has been involved.

Jenny Rathbone had offered to lend Mr Gething money so that he could repay the controversial donation made to his campaign. However, Mr Gething has declined to repay the cash. His decision to take the donation has been met with criticism. A party colleague, Vikki Howells, has said that it would breach the ministerial code for Mr Gething to take such a loan
