Ice Spice has announced details of her debut album ‘Y2K’ and a world tour in support of the record. The New York rapper shared the cover art for the album and a release date of July 26 on social media yesterday. The album can now be pre-added on Apple Music. In Europe, the rapper will perform at several festivals including Roskilde, Open’er, and Wireless. North American tour dates include headlining shows, supported by Cash Cobain, taking in cities such as Washington D.C., Boston, New York, Detroit, and Houston.
Following on from her January 2023 EP ‘Like..?’, which featured singles ‘Munch (Feelin’ U)’ and ‘In Ha Mood’, ‘Y2K’ is much anticipated. Critically acclaimed on its release, with NME awarding the EP four stars, writer Thomas Smith praised Ice Spice’s “sardonic delivery and level-headed confidence”. Looking ahead to the rapper’s debut album, Smith writes that “the road is still long for Ice Spice, and weathering the post-viral breakout period feels crucial: longevity feels attainable, but casual listeners and even some fans remain fickle…On ‘Like…?’, she appears unbothered about chasing clout or fans – she knows they’ll come around eventually anyway”.
Fans eagerly awaiting Ice Spice’s debut album can purchase tickets for European festival dates now, with North American shows going on sale on Friday June 7 at 10am local time. The tour opens with an appearance at Roskilde Festival in Denmark, before taking in appearances in countries including Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the USA, and Canada.
