Norwegian DJ and producer Djuma Soundsystem is celebrating the third anniversary of his Afro house label, iZIKI, by launching the long-awaited EP called “Esigia”. The album is a joint project with French electronic artist Yann Coppier and Ghanaian singer and kologo player King Ayisoba, with additional remixes from Kintar, RUSKAR, and Kellerkind. The EP is set to release on June 7.
iZIKI was first launched as a series of parties in June 2021 and only later turned into a label, quickly spreading all over the world, with over 30 locations participating in the events. iZIKI is credited with sparking the Afro house scene in New York City and increasing its popularity globally.
According to Djuma Soundsystem, the head of the label, his primary goal was to foster a community, rather than just throwing a party. The idea of iZIKI was to create an open-source movement that would spark inspiration and freedom in its participants, making them feel liberated and motivated.
Esigia EP marks the new era of iZIKI’s development and growth, demonstrating the label’s commitment to promoting and supporting Afro house culture. The album is expected to bring attention to new talent and remind listeners how essential this music genre is in the development of contemporary electronic music
