During one of her shows in Las Vegas, Adele made headlines after calling out a heckler who yelled “Pride sucks”. The incident happened last Saturday, June 1, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, where the singer was performing as part of her ongoing “Weekends With Adele” residency. A video taken by a fan shows that Adele had been speaking about her busy work schedule before the man shouted the alleged homophobic remark. According to some fans, he actually shouted “work sucks” in response to her comments. One Twitter user who was seated next to the heckler claimed, “He said work sucks because she mentioned something about working. It was all very awkward.”

The US’ largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organisation, Human Rights Campaign, took to Twitter to say that “Want to know how to challenge bullies and hate this Pride Month? Take a page from the icon that is @Adele”. Actor and comedian John Leguizamo also expressed his support, while writer, producer, and commentator Jason Reid called Adele “an LGBTQ+ ally” in a tweet that has since been liked almost 10,000 times.

Adele will play ten outdoor shows in Munich this August as part of a special residency at a bespoke 80,000-capacity venue. She’s set to resume her Las Vegas residency this coming weekend before returning to Sin City to play a run of rescheduled dates between October and November.
