Toronto rapper Snowd4y has released a remix/cover of Plain White Ts’ ‘Hey There Delilah’ featuring a verse from Drake called ‘Wah Gwan Delilah’. The track alters the original song with parody-esque lyrics and autotune. Social media has reacted to the song in varying ways, with some users calling it ‘unlistenable’ and others speculating whether it is AI. OVO rapper Hush has confirmed that the track is indeed real, teasing that Snowd4y was dropping “one for the city.”
‘Wah Gwan Delilah’ is the second release featuring Drake since his public feud with Kendrick Lamar. The first release, ‘U My Everything,’ was created with Sexxy Red and launched at the end of May. Prior to recording these two tracks, Drake had released ‘The Heart Part 6,’ which appeared to end a viral and intense back-and-forth between Drake and Lamar. In ‘The Heart Part 6,’ Drake claimed that he fed Lamar false intel that first surfaced in the latter’s tracks ‘Meet the Grahams,’ ‘Not Like Us,’ ‘Euphoria,’ and ‘6:16 in LA.’ Lamar has not released a new track following ‘Not Like Us,’ which to date has garnered over 69 million views on YouTube.
While some fans of the artists involved have not reacted positively to ‘Wah Gwan Delilah,’ the track remains an example of experimentation with different sounds and musical genres. Drake’s contributions to the track suggest that he continues to explore and push the limits of his artistry while reaching out to collaborate with emerging or lesser-known talent. As always, time will tell whether ‘Wah Gwan Delilah’ makes a significant impact in the music industry or merely fades away
