Benders will perform a live set at both events, which takes place on June 7 and 8, with the first set in Johannesburg and the second set in Cape Town. The event in Cape Town marks TOYTOY’s debut in the city.

As an artist, Benders has moved away from the conventional way of writing and performing premeditated compositions, instead he improvises using live streaming and online video broadcasts. Over the years, he has toured around the world with performances at festivals and clubs, including Awakenings, Dekmantel, Le Guess Who?, Amsterdam Dance Event, and Berghain.

TOYTOY, first launched as a sporadic pop-up party in 2008, has grown into the longest-running techno night in South Africa. The event takes place every Friday at And Club, located in Johannesburg’s inner city, semi-industrial Newtown area, where it champions both South African and international electronic artists. Benders will perform in Johannesburg at And Club on June 7, or catch him on June 8 at Cape Town’s Apollo AV
